York Olive Oil Company is an Olive Oil Grower and Processor located near the town of York, 96 km east of Perth in Western Australia.
The York Olive Oil Company produces fresh, award-winning, Australian Extra Virgin Olive Oil from our own press in the historic town of York, Western Australia.
As well as producing and marketing our own oil we provide services to other olive growers in the state.
The York Olive Oil Company is privately owned by three equal partners who share the same desire for top quality olive oil. We are not a managed investment scheme. Our aim is to supply the market with the freshest, highest quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil at realistically affordable prices.
Arnaud Courtin, who was born in France, started the company in 1997 by picking olives from old trees in the region, some of which date back over 150 years to when the area was first settled by Europeans. Unable to keep up with the demand for his oil, Arnaud invited Jenny Baxter and Adriano (Andy) Giacomel to join the business and the press and retail shop were opened in February 2002.
Olives in Western Australia are harvested from April to June each year and 2005 will be the fourth year our own press has been in operation. The tonnages we process each year have been increasing rapidly as more and more new generation olive groves come on stream.
Our Extra Virgin Olive Oil (we only produce the highest quality olive oil - Extra Virgin) is produced fresh each year during the months of April, May and June, and comes from the first, cold pressing of the best quality fruit.
The olive fruit is sourced from our own groves and also from individual growers throughout the state of Western Australia. The fruit is processed as quickly as possible after harvesting at our own Pieralisi continuous extraction press. The oil is blended, stored, bottled and labeled in-house so we have absolute control over what we produce and sell.
What makes our oil different from most of those found in the supermarkets is the harvesting date marked on each bottle. We don't blend old oil with new. We operate a 500kg per hour Pieralisi continuous extraction press using the two-phase method whereby nothing (not even water) is added to the olives.
Leaves are first removed from the incoming fruit which is washed in pure rainwater and crushed. The oil is then physically separated from the resulting paste using a system of centrifuges. Nothing is added to the fruit in a mechanical process which retains the full flavour characteristics of the olives.

We also take great pleasure when other growers win awards with oil we have pressed from their fruit. In our first three seasons of pressing oils from our press have won a massive total of sixty three awards, including seven Gold Medals, fourteen Silver Medals, thirty five Bronze Medals, two First in Class, three Second in Class, one Third in Class and one Best of Show.

Our Extra Virgin Olive Oil is sold in 250ml, 500ml & 750ml bottles and also in 2, 5, 10 & 20 litre containers for larger users such as the restaurant trade, so you can purchase the oil in quantities to suit your own requirements and ensure that you are always using the freshest oil available.
